Established in 1992, Mark Jermin Stage School is now Wales’ leading part-time training establishment for performing arts, and the amount of student success and unlimited opportunities each student has access to makes it a stand-out creative centre. Large floor to ceiling wall safety mirrors

Having recently acquired a property in Carmarthen Road, Fforestfach, the stage school contacted Coastal Glass to quote on the supply and fitting of 170sqm of walled mirrors.

The project required the supply and fitting of mirrors to 9 walls from floor to ceiling with one wall being 15m in length. Top and bottom tracks were fitted to house the 1.2m x 2.4m Pilkington safety mirrors, each with polished edges. The mirrors were manufactured locally.

With each room varying in size, with one wall being 15m in length, it was crucial to get the hundreds of measurements perfect to ensure and outstanding finish. With the building being completely refurbished, it was necessary to work in conjunction with several other tradesmen to ensure the smooth running and timely completion of the works.

Bedroom makeover – fitted wardrobe door mirrors

A client in Swansea wanted bedrooms makeover which included the installation of 23 mirrors fitted to the wardrobe doors. The client was given the choice of smoked grey / smoked bronze/ or standard mirror and chose smoked grey as she had a grey theme running through the property. It was the correct choice as the mirrors fitted in seamlessly into th bedrooms adding fantastic light to each room.

A client in Three Crosses, Swansea wanted to display a favourite piece of artwork in their kitchen without the risk of it being ruined by steam and moisture from cooking and washing up. The solution was to install a clear glass splashback, incorporating and sealing the artwork above the cooker as a centre piece on permanent display. The installation of the splashback was a little challenging due to the property being an old cottage with internal angles not necessarily square!

Coastal Glass were asked by the client, to replace the out-dated textured glass in an arched doorway with new stylish frosted glass. the beading was carefully removed along with the old glass and putty. A template was created and new glass made to measure and installed and beading replaced.

Coastal Glass was contacted by a couple from the Skewen, Neath area who needed a cat flap installed in there rear door.

They had explored the idea of having a compleate new door installed not realising the glass to the existing door could be re-made to incorporate their desired cat flap.
The new door option was way over their budget.

When they contacted Coastal Glass the job was surveyed and priced within two days of the enquiry. They were happy to proceed with the new doubled glazed unit which was to be made-to-measure with all holes pre-cut and sealed prior to installation.

There was a lead time of 7 days for manufacturing the new glass to incorporate the desired cat flap supplied by the customer, which was the microchip type, preventing intruder animals entering their home.

Coastal Glass were contacted by a Lincoln based company who specialise in the removal of cash machines across the country. Barclays Bank in High St, Pontardawe was closing permanently and the cash machine, which was housed in a window frame needed to be removed and replaced with 6.4 laminated glass.

The timing of the job was critical as the re-glazing had to coincide and be completed within an hour of the machine being removed.

From first point of contact, the job was surveyed, quoted and completed within a matter of days. Being on-site on time and prepared with all the necessary materials as the cash machine was being removed, enabled the re-glazing to be completed with minimal disruption.
